About Child Abuse in the U.S.

Child abuse in the U.S. is a serious problem.

You hear about it from a friend. You don't get a chance to keep up with the news much anymore. A man beating his toddler to death on the side of a road. A boyfriend on a convenience store tape hitting, biting and knocking a toddler down with the cooler door. People tossing their children over bridges. A young child found in an attic, deceased for a year. A child washes up on shore. A nanny getting caught on tape violently shaking a toddler. An infant being raped. You see some of the eyes of the children when you are shopping. Listless, sad, distant. There are kids in your class room that are uninterested, bullied and have poor grades. Many you suspect are on drugs or are engaging in sexual acitivities.

These stories and others break your heart but you don't know how to get involved. Maybe you think you don't have the time? You barely have enough time to keep up with your own family. There are nearly 3 million child abuse cases REPORTED each year. Experts say the actual number is closer to 9 million, since most go unreported. This puts child abuse at epidemic proportions in this country. Each day nearly 4 children die from child abuse. Child abuse costs the U.S. economy $250 Million dollars a DAY. It's time we do something.
